Jon Ra has been one of the most highly recommended violin and viola teachers in the Collin County area for the past 20 years. He received his Master’s Degree in violin performance at the Conservatory of the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He completed all of his coursework for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree (ABD). While he worked on his Doctor of Music degree, he instructed violin students at the university level. He was the concertmaster of the Baroque Orchestra and he has been invited as a soloist with several orchestras. Mr. Ra was the previous director of Mesquite High School, and has been a teacher at the Gracias Music Summer Camp in California for the past two years. He now teaches students privately at his studio in Allen, Texas. Many of his students have ranked in top positions in All Region orchestras, and have gone to qualify for Area and All State.
Euny Ra is an active performer and well known pedagogue in the Collin County area. She received her Masters’s Degree in cello performance at the Conservatory of the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and was the principal cellist of the symphony orchestra there. She was also a head teacher of the string project at UMKC. Mrs. Ra has performed in masterclasses for many world class cellists, including Nathaniel Rosen and John Sant’Ambrogio. She has also been invited to perform at the Madison Square Garden several times. Mrs. Ra has been teaching her students at her private studio for the past 20 years. Her students have achieved great accomplishments at various competitions and contests. Her students have consistently ranked high in all region, and many of them have landed principal chairs. Her students have also ranked principal first chair in All state as well, and have won several competitions such as the Texas Christians’ University Cello Competition, Roger and Ella Jo Adams Concerto competition, and the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Competition.
